Quote of the Week:
The human race is faced with a cruel choice: work or daytime television.

Cool:
"Computer Manages Restaurant Workers"
Hyperactive Bob, a computer, gathers information via sensors, touch screens and video cameras, decides how many workers are needed, controls shifts, and tells them when and what to do. Often better and more efficiently than a seasoned _human_ manager.

Fun:
"Contest to see who gets to blow up a bridge in DC"
One lucky commuter, who has endured the toughest commuting over the bridge, will get payback, and blow the thing up.

Commuter gets to blow up bridge

If that chance to blow up the Wilson Bridge is legit it's a brilliant idea. Almost no one would otherwise get the chance to blow something like that up (legally). That's really cool if some poor schmoe who always got stuck in traffic gets to do it.

BTW, welcome back!

Commuter gets to blow up bridge

I like the application to blow up the bridge asking for your average commuting time, and how long you have traveled over the bridge. I sense that the person who wins will have a story much like the beginning of Office Space. It looks legit too (see http://www.wilsonbridge.com).

Thanks, I had a great trip, some good time off, and took 3000 pictures... (for perspective, if I showed a slide show of all the pictures, at 5 seconds a slide, the show would go on for over 4.1 hrs... I might just have to cut a few of those out...)

On another topic, would anyone like to watch a slide show?.... ;-)

Uh oh

You're reminding me of my cousin the amateur photographer. She takes thousands of photos every vacation. That wouldn't be a problem if she didn't try to force people to look at each and every picture. Let's just say no one ever asks to see her photos any more.

Well you can be relieved that I am not *that* type of person (I do take lots of photos, but then I get rid of a lot, and only show the absolute best to other people)

... Though....

I do enjoy indulging in a bit of Schadenfreude every once in a while when the opportunity presents itself...
