Host problems

Sorry for the down time. Recently I've had database problems with my shared hosting. I believe someone is abusing my shared database server. But then I also found a table from another site of mine grew over 100 megs overnight. So anyway, Seen On Slash is on another database server and performing well. Thanks for your patience.

good site, and i will be coming back to keep looking, but seriously - the section of the site where the funny/interesting comments are is not the section for you to slip in little site advertisements such as "next submitter gets a free blog!!!11one" (which no one from slashdot will either need nor care about) and little updates about whether things are running ok. we all read the ad about the free blog on the first page, and if you must post service updates, have a separate section. it's annoying when you start reading something that looks like a quote but isn't.
sorry to bitch, but this seems like a very good idea for a site (could be as popular as bash.org) and i reckoned that if you remedied these things it would make it better.
keep up the good work

Thank you very much. The feedback (both positive and negative) is very helpful. It's a good idea to keep site-related news off the front page. I'll set up better navigation on the left and keep a link to site-related posts there.
